YELLOW EYED PENGUINS GENERAL INFORMATION Yellow-eyed penguins can travel daily up to 15 km from the shore to feeding grounds and feed mainly at the edge of the continental shelf. They have been found in nets at 100 meters of depth. Food consists of main species of fish: Red Cod They also eat squid BASIC FACTS: Flesh coloured feet - A shrill call - Usually lay 2 white eggs - 5-8KGS - 65-68 CM. |
Hello, There are some good basic facts here but the yellow-eyed penguins actually can tracel closer to 30 km daily to forage.

You are right, the YEPs do like to nest out of sight of other pairs. They also walk long distances back to their nests after they have been in the sea foraging.Where did you all get the photos of the penguins from? |
